Kelso Town Trail
About This Route
The history of the town is closely linked with the Abbey that was founded in the 12th century. Like Jedburgh, though, the town was targeted by English raids and much of the town including the mill were destroyed by the mid 1500’s. When peace returned in the late 1700’s the town was able to prosper again so many of the buildings are Georgian and Victorian. Kelso is the 4th largest town in the Borders and is also a popular tourist destination, Floors Castle graces the outskirts of the town. There are plaques on the buildings that are highlighted in the trail. This will give you an opportunity to explore streets that you might not have thought to visit.
