Birgham Haugh

Walking Route

Birgham Haugh

Walking

A short circular by Birgham village over farmland and by woodland and river. Birgham is probably a corruption of the phrase ‘bridge ham’ indicating that this is where people crossed the River Tweed.

Birgham Haugh is a good place for bird-watching especially in the summer when sandpipers, redshanks and lapwings are feeding here.
